At the NHS P&C meeting held on 13 June 2017 it was decided that the P&C would no longer operate a canteen at NHS. The P&C operated canteen will close on the last day of term 2. This extremely difficult decision was made due to a number of identified compliance issues at the canteen.
Independent legal and professional accounting advice sought by the canteen sub-committee in relation to the running of this business identified a significant number of industrial relations and financial management compliance issues that need to be addressed. The decision was not taken lightly and was necessitated due to the lack of volunteers with adequate expertise and available time that could commit to the huge undertaking needed to address these issues.
Ms Byron, school principal, will seek tenders for the operation of the canteen, using Department of Education procedures. There may be a number of weeks at the beginning of term 3 when no canteen facilities are available. More information will be in the next school newsletter.
